KSDE provides professional learning for schools free of charge.  Teacher Leader Consultants are used to assist with the following trainings:

  • Vocabulary
    • Training 1: Using Bringing Words to Life, teachers will determine how to select words to teach, how to specifically teach those words, and how to transfer them into a student's lexicon. (3 hours)  Observe another teacher's classroom before training 2.
    • Training 2:  This training will address teacher concerns about "testing" words previously taught, will evaluate the walk-through/teacher planning sheet, and will provide additional transfer strategies.
    • Training 3:

  • Gaming Grammar:  Transferring Skills to Student Writing
    • Training 1:  Using VanCleave's work along with Hochman's The Writing Revolution, teachers will learn  I.E.C.C. (Identify. Expand. Combine.
