MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL DYSLEXIA SERIES (3 part series)

Training centers on Marzano's 6 steps in vocabulary instruction, how to differentiate vocabulary instruction through the use of pre-assessment and the opportunity to transfer words into a student's lexicon.   • Part 3: Verbal Reasoning: Upcoming training in April 2021 that focuses on using complex text with struggling readers and the scaffolds needed concerning background knowledge and the ability to make inferences and draw conclusions. Slides, Handouts, Video

 

STRUCTURED LITERACY IN THE GENERAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM: You've had the six-hour required training.  Now what?  Looking at your screening data and KAP ELA scores, we can design specialized training to boost needed areas within a structured literacy element from Core instruction to Tier How might that element be taught and supported differently?  Choose between phonemic awareness, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and discourse.

GAMING GRAMMAR: How to Transfer Grammar to Student Writing:  How might we teach syntax, grammar, or usage that transfers to student writing? Follow the research that supports instruction, and tap into advice from William VanCleave and Jeff Anderson to revise your instruction to make an impact!Slides, Video

 

 

STRUGGLING READERS & COMPLEX TEXT:  How might we use complex text when students aren’t proficient at grade level?  Participants will learn how to layer text to support struggling readers and identify how content knowledge and procedural knowledge impact reading proficiency.  Strategies to impact comprehension and to increase the depth of knowledge will provide teachers with WHAT, WHY, and HOW to implement with purpose and impact. 3 hour and 6 hour version upon request.
