Welcome to the Kansas State Department of Education's site for Mathematics training options available to districts across the state.
Effective professional development will enable educators to develop the necessary content knowledge and skills to address the ever growing challenges we face with students. Student learning of mathematics "depends fundamentally on what happens inside the classroom as teachers and learners interact over the curriculum."
For more information as to why professional development is essential for educators please read Why Professional Development Matters by Learning Forward.
There are many factors to consider when requesting a math training for your district:
- Targeted Audience
- Intended Outcome
- Time Frame Available
- Delivery Method
- Cost
- Necessary Followup
KSDE is dedicated to assisting districts in this process and offer many avenues to achieve high quality instruction in the area of mathematics.
Districts can request training in the areas listed in the Mathematics Training Menu.
It is important to note that any training request for less than four hours may be delivered via an online platform as this would be more of an informational presentation as opposed to a professional development opportunity.
A district may
not contact the trainer directly to schedule an event, they need to complete the
KSDE District Training Request Form. This provides KSDE with official documentation and is part of our contract agreement with trainers.
