Kansas NGSS Committee Recommendation for Adoption

At the May 14, 2013, Kansas State Board of Education (KSBE) meeting, the Kansas NGSS Review Committee recommended that the KSBE adopt the NGSS as the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards for Science. In their presentation, they documented how Kansas feedback had a significant influence on the standards during their development (see Appendix A of the report), explained how collaboration with other states magnified the efforts of the Kansas team to produce final documents that were greater than any of the lead states could have done on their own, and highlighted several reasons why now in the right time for Kansas to adopt the Next Generation Science Standards.
